VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 Publishes Guidebook For Runners

The Race Organizing Committee (ROC) of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon has officially issued an electronic Guidebook to assist runners in their competition on March 6, 2022.

At the same time, the ROC has also sent this Guidebook to each competing runner via email.

The contents covered in detail in the Guidebook include:

- The ROC's message on how it has to scale down the marathon organization amid the pandemic's complicated development, and about the mission of the race being the last tournament to select professional and non-professional runners to participate in the Marathon content and accompany the 31st SEA Games 31;

- Race Kit distribution date schedule and the Race date;

- The official route map;

- Overall layout, including all utilities for runners: storage area, COVID-19 test area, Expo area, location of toilets, recovery area...

- The rule of Bib wearing to which runners must adhere;

- Instructions on how to arrive at the competition venue and parking area;

- Procedures on receiving Race Kit, the time for quick COVID test (mandatory) and documents runners must bring along to receive Race Kit;

- Location and layout of refreshment points, the exclusive sponsors of water and electrolyte drink sponsors Aquafina and Revive;

- Commitment to complying with safety regulations amid the pandemic for each runner participating in the competition;

- Prohibitions, disqualification, suspension.

NOTE:

Related to the case of receiving warning from the track judge and violations leading to disqualification, page 21 of the Guidebook states clearly: “According to Article 55.8.8 of the existing law on athletics competition, athletes participating in a competition receiving water, snacks outside the official refreshment points or from other athletes (except the medical reasons) will result in a warning from the track judge for the first infraction, disqualification for the second infraction, and immediate removal from the running track.”

The ROC hope that runners will actively check these references, understand and comply with the regulations detailed in the Guidebook in order to have a successful race day.

Held annually since 2018, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon has become Hanoi’s official race and won recognition to be a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since 2019, with a running track standardized by AIMS experts and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Runners’ results, in addition to be qualified for competing in the 31st SEA Games, are still recognized to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon. The VPBank Hanoi Marathon has joined the Age Group Ranking System of Abbott World Marathon Majors, counting from 2022.
