Following more than a month of registration for non-professional runners to get the opportunity to compete fairly with professional runners, the Race Organizing Committee (ROC) of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 has received a more-than-expected number of applications from non-professional runners nationwide. Their achievements are also excellent.

Signing up to compete in the Professional league is not an easy decision as it means giving up the right to compete in the Non-professional league. This demonstrates the runners' high determination as well as desire to compete fairly with national and provincial athletes.

Under professional instructions and direct selection of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, DHA Vietnam Company, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon ROC would like to congratulate the outstanding non-professional runners who were granted the right to compete in the Professional league in the 2021 race.

The runners named in the following list will officially join the rank of professional marathoners to compete at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021.

The VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 is proud to be the only remaining race that gives runners the opportunity to own one of the 200 historic tickets for the journey to the top of glory on the 31st SEA Games running track. Held annually since 2018, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon has become Hanoi’s official race and won recognition to be a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since 2019, with a running track standardized by AIMS experts and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Runners’ results, in addition to be qualified for competing in the 31st SEA Games, are still recognized to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon. The VPBank Hanoi Marathon has joined the Age Group Ranking System of Abbott World Marathon Majors, counting from 2022.
