VPBank Hanoi Marathon Announces Criteria, Prizes For 2021 Race

This is a great effort by the Race Organizing Committee of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon, the country's most anticipated marathon of the year, in order to motivate and inspire runners to constantly practice and improve health and nurture their passion for long-distance running.

The prize structure for the 2021 race includes five prize groups and two certificates as follows:

- National record breaking prize

- VPBank Hanoi Marathon record breaking prize

- Prizes for the Professional League, the 42-km and 21-km distances

- Prizes for the Non-professional League, the 42-km and 21-km distances

- The Final Prizes for 10-km and mini marathon runners

- Certificate of Breaking Personal Records entitled "New Personal Best"

- Certificate for joining Top 200 42-km runners to compete in the 31st SEA Games, 2021

 

VPBANK HANOI MARATHON 2021 CRITERIA AND PRIZE SYSTEM

The prize structure for the 2021 race includes five prize groups and two certificates as follows:

- National record breaking prize

- VPBank Hanoi Marathon record breaking prize

- Prizes for the Professional League, the 42-km and 21-km distances

- Prizes for the Non-professional League, the 42-km and 21-km distances

- The Final Prizes for 10-km and mini marathon runners

- Certificate of Breaking Personal Records entitled “New Personal Best”

- Certificate for joining Top 200 42-km runners to compete in the 31st SEA Games, 2021

 

I. NATIONAL RECORD BREAKING PRIZE

1. Prize name: NATIONAL RECORD BREAKER

2. Runners: Men or Women, Vietnamese citizens who compete in the marathon content, in accordance with the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 terms and conditions.

3. Record qualification:

a. Applicable only for the 42-km distance

b. The competing achievement surpasses the following records:

i. Men: 02:21:51

ii. Women: 02:45:09

c. The National Record Breaker is recognized only by the highest achievement.

4. Prizes:

a. “National Record-Breaking Prize” for Men.

b. “National Record-Breaking Prize” for Women.

5. National Record-Breaking Prize recognition organization: the Vietnam Athletics Federation

6. Benefits for the 2021 winner when participating in VPBank Hanoi Marathon in the 2022 season:

a. Honored as “Vietnam's Record Breaker” (name, achievement and photo) at the “Vietnam Marathon Golden Leaderboard” area from the start to the end of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022.

b. Under review for nomination to participate in one of the following major prestigious races: The Asian Marathon Championships, marathons in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand...

c. Enjoy all the preferential benefits as regulated by the ROC for professional athletes.

 

II. VPBANK HANOI MARATHON RECORD BREAKING PRIZE

1. Prize name: VPBank Hanoi Marathon Record Breaker

2. Runners:

- Men or Women, holding Vietnamese or foreign nationality, competing in the 42-km distance, complying with VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021's terms and conditions.

3. Record qualification: Reaching an achievement surpassing that of the current VPBank Hanoi Marathon 42-km content.

a. Men: 2:27:20, established by runner Trinh Quoc Luong at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020.

b. Women: 2:55:42, established by runner Pham Thi Hong Le at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2019.

c. The VPBank Marathon National Record Breaker is recognized only by the highest achievement.

4. Prize:

a. “VPBank Hanoi Marathon record breaking” prizes are available for men and women, with rewards in line with the ROC's regulations.

b. Winning the “VPBank Hanoi Marathon record breaking” trophy.

5. Organization for record examination and recognition of breaking the VPBank Hanoi Marathon record: The ROC of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021.

6. Benefits for 2021 winners when participating in the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022:

a. Honored as “VPBank Hanoi Marathon Record Breaker”, including name, achievement and photo in the area “Board of VPBank Hanoi Marathon records” from the start to the end of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022.

b. Enjoy all preferential benefits as per the ROC's regulations for professional runners.

 

III. PRIZES FOR PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE

1. Runners:

a. Vietnamese professional runners who are:

i. Members of the National Athletics team in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

ii. Those who joined the marathon and long-distance championship race of the Tien Phong newspaper in 2019, 2020 and 2021, registered under the provincial, city and sectoral teams.

b. Non-professional runners who register to compete in the Professional League:

Men or Women runners of Vietnamese or foreign nationality, competing in the distance of 42 km or 21 km, observing the VPBank Hanoi Marathon terms and conditions and the registration conditions below, voluntarily registering to compete in the Professional League.

2. Conditions for professional and non-professional runners to register for the Professional League

- They must meet the following minimum standards:

* For 42 km:

- Man's achievement: 03:08:00

- Woman's achievement: 03:50:00

* For 21 km:

- Man's achievement: 1:24:00

- Woman's achievement: 1:45:00

- For professional runners: the standard results are to be considered by the Vietnam Athletics Federation by looking at the achievements in the tournament systems organized by the federation in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

- For non-professional runners: the standard results are to be considered at the tournaments in the schedule announced by the Vietnam Athletics Federation, or organized under the federation's supervision in 2019, 2020 and 2021, including: VPBank Hanoi Marathon, Halong Bay Heritage Marathon, Tien Phong Marathon, HCMC Marathon, Techcombank Ho Chi Minh Marathon.

- Register in advance according to the schedule announced by the ROC (mandatory).

- Registration is verified and approved by the ROC, published on the marathon's website after the registration deadline.

3. Rules for prize consideration:

- Professional runners can only compete under the Professional League

- Non-professional runners who have voluntarily registered to compete in the Professional League will not be able to compete in the Non-professional League.

4. Benefits when registering to participate in the Professional League:

- Free Bib for the 2021 race.

- One night stay in the hotel system provided by the ROC (2 people/room, breakfast included)

- Sponsor's gifts at the sponsor's conditions

- Bib meeting the Elite runner's standards

- Priority at the Start line

5. Prize structure:

- For the 42-km distance: 5 prizes, namely 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th for Men and Women

- For the 21-km distance: 5 prizes, namely 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th for Men and Women

6. Benefits for 2021 winners when participating in the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022:

a. Honored, including name and achievement, at the area “Vietnam Marathon Golden Achievement Leaderboard” from the start to the end of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022 season.

b. VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022 Bib award with the distance, at which the runner has won in 2021. The Bib cannot be presented, donated or transferred, but the owner has the right to change the distance. Runners won't have to pay any fee when changing for a shorter distance. For a longer distance, the runner needs to pay the fee resulting from the distance difference at the time of the distance change request. If runners do not participate in the 2022 race, they will lose the right to the Bib gift and that will not be reserved for the subsequent years.

 

IV. PRIZES FOR THE NON-PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE

1. Runners:

a. Men or Women, holding Vietnamese or foreign nationality, registering for the 42-km or 21-km distance.

b. Runners comply with the VPBank Hanoi Marathon's terms and conditions.

2. Prize qualification:

a. For the 42-km distance:

i. The competition achievement is considered based on the final results in the Professional League and the age group for the Non-professional League.

ii. Non-professional runners are entitled to receive two prizes, consisting of the final results (if reached) in the Professional League and the age group of the Non-professional League.

b. For the 21-km distance: Runners of the Non-professional League are allowed to compete in the general race of the Non-professional League only.

3. Prize structure:

a. 42 km: including Top 5 Men and Women for the following age groups:

i. From 35 years and younger

ii. From 36 to 45 years

iii. From 46 or above

b. 21 Km: 08 prizes for each Men and Women groups, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 05 consolation prizes.

4. Benefits for 2021 winners when participating in VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022:

a. Honored, including name and achievement, at the “VPBank Hanoi Marathon Golden Achievement Leaderboard” area from the beginning to the end of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022.

b. VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022 Bib award with the distance, at which the runner has won in 2021. The Bib cannot be presented, donated or transferred, but the owner has the right to change the distance. Runners won't have to pay any fee when changing for a shorter distance. For a longer distance, the runner needs to pay the fee resulting from the distance difference at the time of the distance change request. If runners do not participate in the 2022 race, they will lose the right to the Bib gift and that will not be reserved for the subsequent years.

 

V. FINAL PRIZES FOR 10-KM and MINI MARATHON DISTANCES:

1. Runners:

Men or Women, professional or non-professional, holding Vietnamese or foreign nationality, registering the 10-km distance and mini marathon (4.2 km), complying with the VPBank Hanoi Marathon's terms and conditions.

2. Prize qualification:

The competing achievements to be considered are the final results of Men and Women groups.

3. Prize structure:

a. For the 10-km distance: 08 prizes for each Men and Women group, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 05 consolation prizes.

b. For Mini Marathon: 05 prizes for each Men and Women group, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 02 consolation prizes.

4. Benefits for 2021 winners when participating in VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022:

a. Honored, including name and achievement, at the “VPBank Hanoi Marathon Golden Achievement Leaderboard” area from the beginning to the end of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022.

b. VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022 Bib award with the distance, at which the runner has won in 2021. The Bib cannot be presented, donated or transferred, but the owner has the right to change the distance. Runners won't have to pay any fee when changing for a shorter distance. For a longer distance, the runner needs to pay the fee resulting from the distance difference at the time of the distance change request. If runners do not participate in the 2022 race, they will lose the right to the Bib gift and that will not be reserved for the subsequent years.

 

VI. "NEW PERSONAL BEST" - CERTIFICATE OF BREAKING PERSONAL RECORDS

1. Runners:

a. Men or Women, holding Vietnamese or foreign nationality, registering the 42-km distance at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021.

b. Complying with the VPBank Hanoi Marathon's terms and conditions

2. Conditions to qualify for the “New Personal Best” certificate:

- Runners need to register to break personal records in line with the schedule announced by the ROC (mandatory).

- Applicable only to the 42-km runners who have participated in the VPBank Hanoi Marathon in 2019 or 2020.

- Runners make full declaration of their best achievements reached at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon in 2019 or 2020 in the ROC's form.

3. Criteria to be certified:

- Having competed in the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021.

- Having fully and correctly complied with the marathon's terms and conditions as well as the existing rules on running.

- Have broken the personal record stored in the ROC's system.

4. Prize and benefits:

a. Receive a “New Personal Best” E-Certificate.

b. Have name written on the “New Personal Best" leaderboard displayed at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2022.

c. Receive 01 single-use voucher worth VND 200,000 to buy a Bib for the 42-km distance of any marathon in the Heritage Race system in 2022.

d. Have the record printed on sponsor Xtep's Finisher T-shirt.

 

VI. CERTIFICATE FOR TOP 200 42-KM RUNNERS TO COMPETE IN THE 31ST SEA GAMES, 2021 (As per the table of criteria and prizes published on May 28, 2021).

 

Held annually since 2018, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon has become Hanoi’s official race and won recognition to be a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since 2019, with a running track standardized by AIMS experts and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Runners’ results, in addition to be qualified for competing in the 31st SEA Games, are still recognized to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon. The VPBank Hanoi Marathon has joined the Age Group Ranking System of Abbott World Marathon Majors, counting from 2022.
