VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 Plans New Race Dates

- The new race date would be December 26, 2021, should the pandemic is well controlled in Hanoi and the marathon is licensed by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports;

- If the pandemic remains complicated, the event is expected to be held on March 6, 2022.

 

The above plans have been made after the ROC had consulted with the Vietnam Athletics Federation and relevant departments and agencies, and secured approval by city leaders. The plans also prioritize ensuring the safety for runners.

The ROC would like to express its sincere apology to the runners for this force majeure and hopes to further receive the understanding and support from the runners, who have been, are and will be the most important factors in the success of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021.

The ROC expresses its deep gratitude to the attention of the city leaders, the enthusiastic support of the relevant agencies as well as the companion and professional advice from the Vietnam Athletics Federation.

The ROC believes that the pandemic will be well controlled and wishes the runners to return to practice soon to keep up their performance, looking forward to a new race date with optimism and abundance of energy.

Held annually since 2018, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon has become Hanoi’s official race and won recognition to be a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since 2019, with a running track standardized by AIMS experts and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Runners’ results, in addition to be qualified for competing in the 31st SEA Games, are still recognized to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon. The VPBank Hanoi Marathon has joined the Age Group Ranking System of Abbott World Marathon Majors, counting from 2022.

The Heritage Race system, organized annually by DHA Vietnam, comprises the VPBank Hanoi Marathon in October, the Halong Bay Heritage Marathon in November and the Can Tho Marathon - A Heritage Race in December.
