VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 Loosens Criteria for FM Runner Selection
16/02/2022 - 12:00

The VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021, Vietnam’s leading professional race, has decided to expand the time of Full Marathon PR recording to select 1,000 FM runners to join the competition early next month.

The time for recording FM results is now set from January 1, 2020 to January 31, 2022, instead of results between March 4 and December 31, 2021 as announced on February 14, 2022.

Previously, at the request of Hanoi's Department of Culture and Sports, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 had to scale down its size, so only 1,000 runners will compete in the 42,195 km distance on March 6, 2022 at the Formula 1 racing track in My Dinh, Hanoi to ensure safety amid the pandemic.

The ROC had earlier completed preparations for 10,000 runners to start, run through five inner city districts and finish at Hoan Kiem Lake area in the city downtown, the traditional venue of the race since its October 2018 debut and which was chosen as Hanoi's official annual marathon.

The criteria for qualification to join the race remain the same as announced on February 14, 2022.

-PRs at the marathons supervised by the Vietnam Athletics Federation and the 42.195 km FM track include VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2020, Halong Bay Heritage Marathon 2020, Tien Phong Marathon 2020, Tien Phong Marathon 2021, HCMC Marathon 2020, HCMC Marathon 2021 and Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2020.

-If not from the above races, runners' Strava results can be used for the qualifying round.

Criteria for selecting runners with equal results:

-PRs at the races supervised by the Vietnam Athletics Federation have a higher value than Strava's;

-Any result closer to March 6, 2022 has a higher value than the one further from the race date.

Results are selected from top to bottom to pick 1,000 runners, but they must meet the 5-hour COT requirement.

The ROC sincerely thanks runners for their comments and companionship with the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021!
