Virtual Run, Real Gifts from Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon

The year 2021 is a significantly memorable year when all races are postponed one after another due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile runners' records are still improving day by day. In the past if Sub 3 runners were just a handful, now Sub 3 runners could fill up a bus. Sub 4 runners sprang up like mushrooms after the rain, and from dawn to dusk we can see runners jogging everywhere.

During the most difficult time for the Race Organizing Committee (ROC) of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon to announce the postponement of the race, we had received countless words of encouragement, support, sharing and sympathy from our dear runners. It is the positivity of the runners that has been a source of deep encouragement for the ROC's determination in taking concrete actions to express the gratitude to the runners, who have always accompanied and contributed to the marathon since the first years as well as in the upcoming races.

• The Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon is dedicated to all runners throughout Vietnam.
• The Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon is held on Heritage Race, a completely free running app, with many gifts and attractive activities.
• All runners need is to download the app once - connect Strava - watch Livestream on the marathon's Facebook fan page and receive gifts.

 

How to register to participate?

Step 1: Download the “Heritage Race” app on the App Store or Google Play.

Step 2: Register (It is recommended to use the email registered to buy the Bib for the VPBank Hanoi Marathon tournaments to receive incentives for close runners).

Step 3: Make full declaration of the user's information (to receive gifts).

Step 4: Link up with Strava account (this is the most important step which is often forgotten by many).

Step 5: Run and watch the Livestream of the Lucky draw. The list of winners will be posted on the VPBank Hanoi Marathon's fan page.

 

Rules and prize structure

1. Time of the Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 week program (Vietnam time = GMT+7)

Registration lasts between 00:00 on December 22, 2021 and 23:59 on December 25, 2021

Achievements are recorded within 8 days.

From 00:00 on Sunday, December 26, 2021 (Opening) to 23:59 on Sunday, January 2, 2022 (Closing)

The 3 days during which workout results are counted to qualify for the lucky draw: December 26, 2021; January 1 and January 2, 2022.

Results from any eligible activity recorded by Strava app, regardless the tracker brand is used to monitor the workout, be it Garmin, Suunto, Huawei or Apple watch, are all synchronized with the Heritage Race app.

2. Participants

All runners aged 18 or above who live in the territory of Vietnam.

3. Eligible activity

All activities that satisfy all the following conditions are eligible:

- Run, Walk and Treadmill

- Activity must be set to “Public” on Strava to be synchronized with the app.

- At least 1 workout has to meet one of the following distances:

• Virtual 10 km

• Virtual Half Marathon

• Virtual Marathon

- Only 1 activity is recorded at a time.

- The average pace is in the range 4<=Pace<=12

- Each runner can only link 1 Strava account and register with only 1 club during the game.

- Activity must be measured with a GPS device and displayed on a map when connected to Strava (for Run and Walk modes). In Treadmill mode, the heart rate must be shown.

- Activities on "Private" mode after being changed to "Public" will not be eligible.

- Even though the "Add Others" option on Strava is on, only the activities of the main runner, not those tagged, are counted.

- Runners' complaints about results must be sent to the ROC no later than 4 days from the date the results are displayed/announced.

- Each workout will be a continuous activity, without a break.

(COT 10 km = 2 hours; COT 21 km = 3.5 hours, 42 km = 8 hours).

- The workout end time will be recorded for the Lucky Draw.

Example: If the run starts at 11:00 p.m. on December 26 and ends at 2:00 a.m. on December 27, the run will be counted as on December 27, and will not be eligible for December 26 lucky draw.

If the run starts at 11:00 p.m. on December 25 and finishes at 2:00 a.m. on December 26, it is not valid because the app records runs from 0:00 on December 26.

4. Prizes

Lucky draw method: The Lucky Draw will be live streamed at 11:00 a.m. on December 27, 2021; January 2 and January 3, 2022.

All runners with a minimum workout of 10 km (<21 km) will be qualified for one Lucky Draw session - BREAKING

All runners with a minimum workout of 21 km (< 42 km) will be qualified for several Lucky Draw sessions – HALF MARATHON

All runners who complete the minimum distance of 42 km will be qualified for the Lucky Draw session – FULL MARATHON

(In case a runner has more than one workout within one day, all workouts will still be included in the lucky draw. Each runner, even when having many winning workouts, can only receive one First prize; the limit is not applied to the Second or the Third prize).

Gifts will be allocated for workouts on the three days: December 26, 2021; January 1 and January 2, 2022.

The number of prizes per day is the same and is described in the following table:

5. Regulations on settlement of complaints

- Every runner has the right to appeal against suspected workout results. For runners who are identified by the ROC as cheating, or have a notice of suspicion over cheating, the ROC will have the right to request the provision of necessary information to verify the workout validity.

- In case the runner's results show signs of fraud, the arbitration team of the Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon's ROC has the right to request the runner to provide workout-related parameters for verification. The decision of the arbitration team will be final, the parties must comply and have no right to complain.

- Runners agree to receive information about other sponsor's programs via email and phone number.

- The Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon ROC has the full right to use information and images of the participating runners for promotional activities, communication and other commercial purposes without prior notice and without additional payment to the runners.

- The Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon ROC is exempt from responsibility for accidents, injuries, other health/economic problems of participating runners and issues related to ensuring safety during the pandemic such as: bans on gatherings, social distancing and ensuring the 5K safety.

- By registering to join the virtual race, runners confirm that they have read, understood and agreed to all requirements of the Virtual VPBank Hanoi Marathon ROC.

Held annually since 2018, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon has become Hanoi’s official race and won recognition to be a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since 2019, with a running track standardized by AIMS experts and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Runners’ results, in addition to be qualified for competing in the 31st SEA Games, are still recognized to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon. The VPBank Hanoi Marathon has joined the Age Group Ranking System of Abbott World Marathon Majors, counting from 2022.
