VPBank Hanoi Marathon: Memorabilia For Finishers to Debut March 6
04/03/2022 - 15:00

The VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021, Vietnam's leading professional race, will award a memorabilia to each Finisher for the first time at its March 6 competition.

A total of 600 runners, including stars from the national athletics team and other non-professional runners selected among nearly 1,500 applicants, will conquer the Full Marathon (42.195 km) distance on the running track scheduled for the 31st SEA Games' marathon at My Dinh National Sports Complex in Hanoi.

The debutant memorabilia for Finishers at this upcoming race is to replace regular medals, and represents a special reward and a sign of appreciation from the Race Organizing Committee to elite and non-professional runners who have practiced diligently and overcome many difficulties to win the right to compete, while Vietnam has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic since the start of 2020.

The VPBank Hanoi Marathon, despite having to scale down its March 6 event due to the pandemic, is the last race to select the best runners to perform the national task of competing and accompanying the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam in May 2022.

Held annually since 2018, the VPBank Hanoi Marathon has become Hanoi’s official race and won recognition to be a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since 2019, with a running track standardized by AIMS experts and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Runners’ results, in addition to be qualified for competing in the 31st SEA Games, are still recognized to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon. The VPBank Hanoi Marathon has joined the Age Group Ranking System of Abbott World Marathon Majors, counting from 2022.

New Race Date: March 6, 2022
